KidsWell School-Based Health Center

"Kids shouldn’t have to miss school. Parents shouldn’t have to miss work.

The school-based health program provides access to high-quality healthcare in the school setting. Using telehealth technology, a nurse practitioner or a pediatrician from MUSC examines the student with the assistance of the school nurse, who is in the room with the student.

When a student needs a visit, the school nurse will call the parent/guardian before requesting the telemedicine visit. A nurse practitioner or pediatrician will connect to the student using secure video conferencing equipment and high-definition cameras built into the telehealth equipment. If prescription medication is needed, it will be called into a local pharmacy. Lastly, the school will send a note about the visit to the student’s primary care provider."
