Summer Reading 2025

Escape the Charleston heat this summer at Charleston County Public Libraries, in partnership with Charleston County School District (CCSD), as they host their 2025 Summer Reading Program, Read Around the World. This year's program invites readers of all ages to explore new worlds through books, earn prizes along the way, and enjoy special events throughout the summer.

Reading Materials

Whether you are reading books, graphic novels, magazines or listening to audiobooks, being read to, reading to another person - it all counts! Here are a few ways our students can find reading materials over the summer:

  • Any Charleston County Public Library (all students are enrolled in the L2 program which gives them full access to the library)
  • Access Clever app for:
    • SORA - eBooks, audiobooks, magazines
    • MackinVia - databases perfect for nonfiction reading
    • EPIC - ebooks

Logging Into MyPortal and Clever To Access Digital Resources

Prize Schedule

As the students read this summer make sure that they log their minutes into Beanstack which can be found by logging into their Clever accounts or by downloading the free app on a personal device. Prizes are awarded when students reach 5, 15, and 30 hours.  

  • 5-hour prizes available starting June 16
  • 15-hour prizes available starting July 7
  • 30-hour prizes available starting July 21

Events

Join us as we celebrate Summer Reading 2025 with special programs, performances, and events for all ages at our locations throughout the County.

Summer Feeding

Select Charleston County Public Library branches will serve free meals and snacks to kids and teens (ages 5–18) through partnerships with the Charleston County School District (CCSD) and the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB).

Available Monday through Friday from June 2 to August 8. Please note that there will be no service on June 19 and July 4, in observance of Juneteenth and Independence Day.
