       As a Communications themed school, Chicora provides students with skills and practice in subjects related to the communications industry in addition to the CCSD coherent curriculum. The mission of the school is to provide opportunities to develop writing skills, public speaking and awareness of self through an integrated communications theme.
 
Chicora students will be able to:
Effectively use diverse forms of communication
Use critical and higher order thinking skills to deliver engaging presentation to inform, persuade and solve problems
Write proficiently in different genres
Work cooperatively and exhibit self-esteem and pride to communicate utilizing different media

Program Highlights
Students engage in Being a Writer, a research-based writing curriculum focusing on the child's social and ethical development. The curriculum also emphasizes and allows students to develop creativity and writing skills.
A weekly Communication Class gives students hands-on opportunities in TV, radio, film and print production.
Students interact with successful professionals in the communication field through regular Professional Residencies.
 
Extracurricular offerings include:
